Le Corbusier Chapel damaged beyond repair

I’ve always hoped to visit Le Corbusier’s Chapel of Notre Dame de Haut.  Sadly, it was recently damaged by vandals who destroyed one of its hand-painted windows.

Diamonds are nobody’s friend

Diamond ring

Read this Redeye article about why diamond engagement rings are just plain stupid.  I love that this tradition began so the girl had some collateral in case the guy bailed.

I recently watched this Frontline segment on Parkinson’s.  If you know anyone who’s had it, you know it’s a really terrible and scary disease, but this documentary shed some light on aspects I didn’t know much about.

I admit I am not excited about the third floor of the Modern Wing at the Art Institute closing for seven months, but this article provides so little information about the closure it seems pointless.  In addition, it originally falsely reported that the entire Modern Wing would be closed until April 16 (which NBC5 News then reported as well).

Plus the image caption contains my biggest grammatical pet peeve: “The European Modern galleries at the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago is closed.”  Subject-verb agreement, COME ON (I know, I’m a grammar snob).
